The city of Bhutta Wahan is located on banks of the lost river Hakra at 16 KM in north of city of Rahim Yar Khan (Punjab, Pakistan).
History says that Bhutta Rajput’s have traditions those connecting them with Hindustan thus they were first line of defenders of Hindustan of that time against intruders. On Raja Dahir’s defeat at the hands of Muhammad Bin Qasim in 712 AD, one of Rajput ruler Raja Bhutta (fifth in descent from Raja Karan), captured one of Raja Dahir’s cities and renamed it as Bhutta Wahan.
After the death of Raja Bhutta, his son Raja Ang Pal became the ruler. During Ang Pal’s reign, Bhutta Wahan was invaded by an Arab army. Ang Pal died fighting while his sons and six brothers managed to escape with their families and settled at Uch Sharif (now in Bahawalpur district) on arrival of Sayyids in Uch and they were forced to driven out and they dispersed in different directions in search of shelter and adopted different professions. Presently Bhutta families are living in both neighboring countries of Pakistan and Bharat.

In addition to above Wahan Bhutta is also known as the birth place of Sassi (popular tragic romance of Sassi-Punnhu), Abul-Fazal and Faizi renowned courtiers in Sultan Jalal-ud-Din Muhammad Akbar’s court in Delhi.
