African lions in Marghazar Zoo Islamabad
Lion encloser at Marghazar zoo,
Islamabad
A
pair of African lions has been added to the Marghazar Zoo Islamabad by the
Capital Development Authority (CDA) ISLAMABAD; for the amusement of visitors
from across the country. Lions’ roar echoes at Marghazar Zoo Islamabad after a
decade.
It
is to be mentioned here that the two lions have been brought to the Marghazar
Zoo under the Exchange of Birds and Animals Programme from the Punjab
government.
The CDA invites schools and children of
the city to visit the zoo in the school vacations and is starting a Facebook
campaign to name these two lions.
The Zoo administration has been directed
by CDA to submit recommendations for further improvement in the facilities
being provided here in order to make Maghazar Zoo Islamabad; a state-of-the-art
facility. Furthermore, negotiations for the provision of a female elephant with
a competent forum of Sri Lankan government are at final stages. It is expected
that an elephant will also be added very soon.
