Vermicelli, A traditional dish (Semiyan or Seviyan) which is prepared from wheat flour, (maida) and water, on drying in sun; these are baked in oven and marketed for consumers. It is in high demand during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan and Eid ul Fitar. Vermicelli is cooked in sweet milk and served while garnished with dry fruits. Locally, it is also known as “Sheer Khurama”. It was introduced as common dish acceptable both for Muslims & Hindus courtiers in the royal court by Mughal Emperor Zahir ud Din Babar on the occasion of Eid.
