JUDOKA Shah Hussain Shah, seen with his father and boxing legend Syed Hussain Shah

The Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) is likely to send Shah Hussain Shah to Iran and Spain for training before he competes at the Rio Olympics in August 2016.

PJF says that Shah Hussain qualified for the Rio Olympics in under-100kg category. International Judo Federation (IJF), has confirmed that Shah has sealed a place for the Rio Olympics under the continental quota. He is the first Pakistani judoka to ever qualify for the Olympics.

Shah is our only hope [at the Rio Olympics]. PJF is considering sending him to Iran, Spain or some other country for training ahead of the Games. We will try our best to provide him all necessary facilities to help him make a podium finish.

Pakistan is scheduled to compete at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. This is the first time when Pakistan hockey team has failed to qualify for the Olympics.

Pakistan has qualified one judoka for the men's half-heavyweight category (100 kg) at the Games, signifying the nation's Olympic debut in judo. Hussain Shah earned a continental quota spot from the Asian region, as Pakistan's top-ranked judoka outside of direct qualifying position in the IJF World Ranking List of May 30, 2016.

Pakistan has received two invitations from the Tripartite Commission to send shooters competing in the men's 25 m rapid fire pistol and women's 10 m air rifle, respectively, to the Olympics.
